Social networks: pros and cons

Social networking sites are the new starting point for new relationships on the Internet. But, why they're so interesting? In my opinion, they're very useful because you can meet new people, and thus, make new friends from around the globe. Even you can find your true love. The only bad point is that some people lie, and you can believe them. But as my own experience, I have met a lot of great people from Spain, and you can have a lot of fun with them.

Opinion paragraph: Haters

People who hate on things are big part of the Internet, and usually they're called "haters". In my case, while I don't like a lot of things, I just don't waste my time bashing them, but these people do, and I think that they have a very childish behaviour. Why can't just these people let others alone? They won't change their tastes even if they say that they're not worth it. To sum up, you're allowed to give your opinion, but you can't hurt other people's feelings.

Murcia SeRemanga 2014

Yesterday I went to the VI Murcia SeRemanga, and I had a great time! I met a lot of disguised people (cosplayers) and I had a lot of fun!

To start, we went to Murcia from Cartagena at 14:20 hours and we arrived a hour later. We saw some things outside and we waited in the looooooooooooong queue for a while (there was a like a more than 100 people queue to enter the main place) but a friend helped me to enter faster. After that, we started to visit the stands and I bought some pins. Also,  I met some people from Twitter. Then we went to the yuri chat, but in the end we weren't be able to enter because it was full. A while later some friends finally sneaked inside and we bought a lot of things and we did stupid things too! I haven't saw my friends in ages, because most of them were from Murcia.

Another great thing is that I carried with me a lot of money, and I took photos with cosplayers. They were very nice people!

At 21:10 we took the bus to Cartagena and my father picked me up and I went back home. It was a very nice experience, and I'll come back the next year. The only bad thing were the long queues, but still it was great.

Now, it's time to show my photos with cosplayers!
Kofuku and Yato-sama from Noragami!

Alice Baskerville from Pandora Hearts!

Nagisa Hazuki and Rei Ryugazaki from Free!

Rin Matsuoka from Free!

Mami Tomoe and Madoka Kaname from Mahou Shojo Madoka Magica!
Seto Kousuke from Mekaku City Actors / Kagerou Project!

I also met more people from Mekaku City Actors, and even one followed me in Twitter! But the photo didin't come out well...

And to end what I bought:

Monokuma's key necklace from Danganronpa, a Dragonite (Pokémon plushie), a Marisa Kirisame (from the videogame Touhou) plushie, a Monokuma plushie, two Mahou Shojo Madoka Magica and a Kuroko no Basuke buttons, an Armin (from Shingeki no Kyojin) keychain and a Big Bang (music band) bracelet.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Internet

First, I will start with the advantages. You can meet new people from around the globe, and learn new things. Also, there's a lot of interesting information on the internet, such as educational websites, videos, movies, music, articles... On the other hand, there's a lot of fake information around the web and some people could be trying to deceive you with nice words. To sum up, you can find good and great things on the Internet.

Contrast paragraph: My sister and I

To start, I have an older sister. She's twenty-six years old, and she's studying for the University Access Exam for older than-25 years old students. In contrast, I am nineteen years old (she's seven years older than me) and I'm studying the first course of GEI. She's always concerned about her appearance, but in my case, I don't like makeup and things like that. Also, she likes latin music like bachata and reggaeton-like music, while I love rock music in English, Japanese or other languages. Another point is that she always goes out with her friends, unlike me, since I like to stay at home. To sum up, we're very different, but she usually understands my problems and she helps me in a lot of things.

New music is only a click away

To be honest, I highly despise nowaday's music, but there's still some great gems which we can found if we know how to properly surf the Internet. I have discovered new bands in a music social networking site called "Last.fm". The site itself has a lot of flaws, but you can disover new bands and artists there. To sum up, there are a lot of great modern bands waiting to be discovered. Not everything is Metallica and One Direction! (for example). Some great not very-known bands are Anathema, Die Happy, Bathory, Eisbrecher...You should try to surf the web more if you love music!

See you soon!

Description in a Paragraph: Oz Vessalius

Oz Vessalius is one of the most interesting manga characters I've ever seen. He has a happy-go-lucky personality, but he can care about problems if necessary. Also, he's always trying to save his friends, even if one of them is his own servant. His most significant physical feautre are his deep green eyes, which are the main feature of the Vessalius family. To sum up, he has a very strong sense of justice and I really adore him because he always has a smile on his face, even if he has a lot of problems.

My favorite place in the world: Playa Honda

My most favorite place in the world is where I pass my summer holidays, a little place called Playa Honda, which is near La Manga in Cartagena. I've been passing my summer holidays there with my parents since I was a kid.

I live in a little three-feet building, and you can go to the beatch by feet because is very near. I also have a nice swimming pool which we share with another building. The place is full of apartments and convenient sites (a supermarket and restaurants, for example).

Also, there's two parks, and one is very closer to my house. They used to celebrate the town's parties a few years ago (when I was a little). I used to go hang out with some people there. You can have a nice walk to the beach because there's not a lot of cars.

To sum up, Playa Honda is a nice place to visit, because you can also go to La Manga without a lot of effort. You can get there by feet. But the beach is very nice and you can have a great day because in Playa Honda sometimes we have good weather (at least in Summer).

Pandora Hearts

Today's entry is about one of my favorite manga: Pandora Hearts.

Written and drawn by Jun Mochizuki and published monthly on the Square-Enix G-Fantasy Magazine, Pandora Hearts is a complex series full of plot twists, revelations, action and a lot of character developement.

It's a manga very hard to explain without spoiling it, so I'll write a simple summary:

The story is set in a 19th century-like setting, and starts with the coming-of-age ceremony of Oz Vessalius, a 15-year boy who is the heir of the Vessalius family. In the middle of the ceremony, he's attacked by strangers and he's sent to the Abyss, which is a like a prison that it's imposible to escape from. His sin is his own existence. When he arrives there he mets a girl named Alice who says that she know how to leave that place. Then, he makes a contract with her (she's a chain, a chain is part of the contract, the contratist can summon the chain and attack) and they're able to use the Black Rabbit Power (she's called "B-Rabbit").

(I can't go further because I would end writing the entire story)

An interesting thing about this manga it's that it has a lot of Alice in Wonderland references. For example, some chains are named "Mad Hatter" and "The Queen of Hearts".

MAIN CHARACTERS

From left to right: Sharon Rainsworth, Break Xerxes, Reim, Raven/Gilbert Nightray, Oscar Vessalius, Oz Vessalius, Alice Baskerville, Ada Vessalius, Echo, Leo and Elliot Nightray.

And other important characters:
Jack Vessalius

Glen Baskerville
Vincent Nightray
Echo
I really like the story, setting and characters. At first, they have simple personalities, but as the story goes on, the author starts to develop their thoughts and actions. Also, I really like the Victorianesque setting mixed with fantasy. It's just amazing!

And to end, the other day I was reading it on my way to university, and when I read one of the manga's most memorable moments I nearly cried. The author was so rutless to kill one of the best characters in the entire manga.

The manga will end next month, and I don't know if I'll be able to handle the situation. There's a lot of things that need to be explained, so I hope that it will have an amazing ending!

Thanks for your reading! ^_^

I got a new computer!

All started last Thursday. When I was picked up by my mother and my sister, they said that they had a surprise for me. When we reached home, it was that I would get a new computer. Yesterday, I finally got it.

Isn't it beautiful?

I also got a microphone, a 16-GB pendrive and a new screen. I still have to fix the computer's wifi problems (you have to buy an extra gadget to get wifi on a desktop computer) but in all other aspects it works great.

Finally I'll be able to do what I want on my own computer without limitations! Also, an interesting fact: my computer is custom made, they bought it in a computer store that it's near home, not in a mall for example. The owner (I think it's the owner) put every part together (the graphic cards, the USB parts, the tower itself...).

See you next water time! (most of you won't pick the reference, I know)

This is the real presentation: Random facts about me

I think I should introduce my real self this time.

This entry will be some random facts about me.

  1. My real name is Laura but most of my friends call me Lau.
  2. I am nineteen years old (my birthday is in August)
  3. I live in Cartagena
  4. When I was a child I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, so it became very difficult for me to make friends, but now I can easily talk to new people. Also, it's one of the reasons why I get obsessed with anything I start to like.
  5. I decided to study English at university because I used to get very good grades at high school without studying anything. I never study the language, I always go to the exams only trusting my knowledge. I got a 10 in a PAU-type exam.
  6. I'm looking forward to November 16th, because that day I'll probably meet one of my best Internet friends (Sam, I know you'll read this because I told you so, hehe).
  7. Music is a very important part of me. I couldn't live without it. My favorite genres are rock and metal, but I also like electronic music.
  8. I started to watch anime a year ago, because a friend recommended me one series and I liked it. I've watched like twenty animes since then. My favorite genre is fantasy.
  9. Some places I'd like to visit: Finland, England, Japan and Germany. I love their cultures.
  10. I don't read only manga, I have a lot of Mortadelo and Filemón comics.
  11. I have a lot of favorite characters
  12. I highly respect Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden's iconic vocalist). He's my hero, because he's the prime example of someone who can do anything he wants if he works for it.
  13. Junk food is another big part of my life. I wouldn't be a person without chocolate, pizza, microwaved food, Coca-Cola...my mother always tries to make saludable food. I'm very special with food.
  14. I like to learn new things, mostly useless trivia.
  15. One of my favorite videogame series is Pokémon. I have been playing Pokémon since I was 5 years old, and I still keep playing the games from time to time.
  16. I can't stand horror movies, but I have watched some gore/horror animes like Higurashi no naku koro ni (in English: When they cry, which is about a series of incidents that happened in a little town called Hinamizawa) and Another, which is about a class who is haunted. Each month someone dies, and there's always an extra student, so they'll have to find him/her.
  17. One of my favorite music genres is Vocaloid. Vocaloid is a voice synthesizer. That means that you buy a "voice" and you can make any song with that library. They're not real people, but a lot of people like me love them. They have anime designs, and most authors use them in their videoclips (called Picture Videos). Some songs are amazing. An example:

And I think I wrote enough facts.
I want to publish an entry about my life on campus, so see you soon!

Introducing Mary Kozakura and my world in general

Oh, well I guess it was about time I would start writing here. Should I introduce myself? Yes? Okay, let's go. Also, I'm going to introduce one of my favorite series: Kagerou Project.

My name is Mary Kozakura and I'm a student of English Philology at the University of Murcia. 'Where do you live?' You may ask. That is top secret information.

My hobbies? I really love watching anime (I love the fantasy genre), reading manga, listening to music (rock, metal and a lot of japanese music) and playing some videogames. Also, suring the web. I've learnt a lot of English just doing these things.

Mary Kozakura
Now, about my nickname...it comes from Kagerou Project, an anime series which I am very fond of. Mary Kozakura is a 1/4 medusa girl who has been living alone in the forest for like 100 years. One day, she meets a boy named Kousuke Seto who becomes her first real friend. Later, they leave the forest, and she joins his gang.

I'm going to describe her design. She has very long, white hair which is decorated with pink bows in the manga; she wears a long blue dress under a white apron. Also, she has pink eyes. In the manga and other sources she goes barefeet, but in the anime she wears brown shoes.
She's very shy when meeting new people and she is not very careful.

The name of the gang is "Mekakushi Dan" (Mekakushi means Blindfold in Japanese, so they'd be called in English "The Blinfold Gang") which is composed of nine members (although there's a zero member).

From left to right: Tsubomi Kido, Kozakura Mary, Kisaragi Shintaro, Kisaragi Momo, Kokonose Haruka, Kousuke Seto, Amamiya Hibiya, Takane Enomoto, Shuuya Kano and Tateyama Ayano.
The only condition to join the gang is to have an eye power. The only way to get an eye power is dying in pairs. So, all members are dead. In this case, Mary's eye power is petrifyng eyes, which works like the mytological medusas' powers. Although she only can petrify someone for a brief time.

Every character has a song, and in this case, Mary's song is "Imagination Forest".

It's about her past. A hundred years ago, she lived with her mother in the forest. One day, she went outside disobeying her mother advices, and then she was attacked by some violent boys. Her mother tried to saved her but finally died after pretrifying them. She lived in the house alone for like a century until a boy who got lost in the forest found her. He showed her that she wasn't alone (at least, that is my interpretation) and brought her to the city.

Well, it's time to finish this entry. I hope you liked it. I tried my best. See you soon!
